According to urban legend, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle sent a telegram to 12 of his friends.
The message read “Flee! All has been discovered.”
These 12 men were reportedly ‘of great virtue and respected in society.’ And supposedly ended with all 12 men fleeing their respective countries. The idea was biased on the notion of the guilty conscience. So by sending this generic message to people, you were testing their character. Seeing if they had done anything so egregious, that they would act on the very notion of it being revealed.
There is some dispute on if this story is real, some even saying that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle pretended to send the telegrams and that the people fled. I’m sure one could look it up in greater detail to find the truth…
OR you could randomly message some friends “We have been discovered, flee imminently” and see what happens.
