I’m going to go on a bit of a tangent but I went on a digital minimalism kick for a bit and set up dial up on my computer. I found a provider and everything. It was funny because it was one guy who was pretending he occupied every role in the company.
One of the biggest realizations though is modern internet is not tailored towards dial-up. Browsers are designed to fail if it takes too long to load which dial up will trigger.
And there’s so much background internet ‘noise’ from different vendors that gobbles up all the bandwidth and creates no room to surf under dialup.
I had to go next level to make it all work. Like micromanaging every connection to every service.
Once it was working, I couldn’t do much but check email and browse the internet in pure text. No graphics or anything. It was really good for deterring internet use which led to more time outside 😊
I should do a tutorial on this LOL 🤓
